RAISE Citizens Conference

An important part of the RAISE project was the organisation of a citizens conference (see Concept). This conference involved the 26 randomly selected citizens (see Application), one from each of the EU Member States, including Romania. They should represent the "average citizens" from the different European countries. These citizens were asked to formulate their views on the acceptance and use of selected urban sustainable development approaches, technologies and solutions stemming from various EU research project findings. The citizens met several times during the project's running time and finally formulated a "Citizens Declaration on the European City of Tomorrow". This declaration was then be presented to EU policy-makers in Brussels on 5 December 2005.
